365 Project: Day 30

Day 30 and I am starting to see faces in the clouds... Don't know if that's a good sign ;)

Warm Winter Days

Or actually, extremely COLD winter days ;) Outside the wind is blowing from the east, bringing snow and freezing temperatures. Inside, fortunately, it's warm and cozy. It's the perfect weather to stay in, crawl under a blanket, watch movies and drink lots of tea and warm chocolate. 

It's also the perfect weather to apply some finishing touches to our living room. I absolutely love my new furniture!! Especially the new sofa in combination with my black & white rug and homemade crochet blanket you see in the first picture :) I'm actually working on another blanket that will look even better, but it might be some time until it's finished... 

Meanwhile, I got a pear in the post the other day, and I finally got around to hanging it! 

Love it so much!! :) My home is really starting to become a bright, colorful place, and I like it a lot! It brings a bit of sunshine when outside there's nothing but cold winds and snowstorms...

But hey, it's almost Spring, right?

365 Project: Day 15 + 16

Winter has finally arrived here in my corner of the world. Temperatures are low (which means wearing all kinds of ridiculously warm hats - yay! :) and yesterday it just kept on snowing. It was the good kind of snow, the kind that makes creaky noises beneath your boots and dances in the wind. I tried to photograph the sky, with the snow flying up and down at the same time, in all its prettiness... but all the pictures seemed to depict the falling ashes after a volcano eruption... ;)



And today? Today the skies were a clear blue, the sun was shining and the snow was filled with the footsteps of humans, cats, dogs and birds. I photographed this beautiful magpie, sitting high up in a tree, looking down on the world.



Must have been a pretty good view :)

Retail Therapy

After 3,5 months of waiting and living in a room so messy it felt more like I was camping, my new sofa & chairs arrived last week!! The colors - moss-green for the sofa and dark-yellow for the chairs - are absolutely wonderful and look really great together.

The only problem with having such pretty new furniture is... a lot of the other stuff in my house suddenly seems super plain! Plus, after tidying up the place it all just felt a bit empty and impersonal.

So...

... off to Ikea I went to get us some happy, colorful accessories. Of course I came back with loads of stuff that wasn't on the list, like a black and white rug and the cutest birdy-tray EVER, but with Ikea that is kind of inevitable ;)

Anyway, my little shopping trip payed off, and after months of living in a room filled with clutter, my house is starting to feel like a home again.

365 Project: Day 13

Day 13 of my 365 Project and what a wonderful day it was. The skies were blue, the air crispy cold and the sunshine warm and uplifting. I went to the city of Utrecht with my best friend to enjoy a Cultural Sunday, during which cultural events are organized throughout the city. The Dom Tower looked beautiful, we took a short stroll through the monastery garden, there was dance and music, hot chocolate and cake.

In short: today was a Good Day :)
