Succulent Madness

Succulent Madness!

Okay people, succulents are officially cool :) I've ranted about them before, but the longer they're around the more they're able to surprise me.

As I said in my previous post about succulents: I don't know a lot about plants. I just know that I'm able to keep succulents alive, which is all I really need ;) So a few months ago 'something' started to grow out of one of our larger succulent plants, and - of course - I didn't know what the hell it was. I had seen smaller succulents grow out of larger ones, so at first I thought that was happening again. Yet the 'thing' kept growing, and growing, and growing... and didn't look at all like the larger succulent.

For the sake of experiment I just let it be...

... until it looked like something from another planet!

And this weekend, it was finally revealed what was growing out of our succulent plant.

They're freakin' flowers!!

How insanely cool is that?! :) They´re so pretty and I had such a blast photographing them!

So yeah. Succulents. A plant weird enough to cause a geek out.

(In my case anyway ;)

Hello world!

Phew, how time flies by when you're busy and exhausted! ;) Is it just me, or is it really hard to combine creativity with daily life sometimes?! Short sleepless nights have been making my workdays feel sooooo long, and spare time is filled with naps, chores and social stuff.

Meanwhile, my cats do nothing but sleep ALL DAY LONG! :) They are practically hibernating in our new yellow chairs while the rest of us do all the hard work...

... and still they have the nerve to shamelessly yawn - just to rub it in!

Charming... ;)

The good news: I'm writing another crochet tutorial (coming soon!), Spring is on its way (YAY!!!) and it's time to plan my holiday :)

Flowers in the Window: Day 26

And finally, on Day 26, my Hyacinth bulbs have almost completely blossomed :) They are not only gorgeous, but the smell... The smell is amazing and fills up the entire room!!

I think I prefer the smell of the white ones over the pink ones. And I should know, because I've been sniffing them daily!

(...)

Uhm...

If that makes me sound a bit mental, I take it back... ;)

YES!!! :) Day 23 and the room is starting to fill with the scent of fresh flowers. Despite the winter outside, it feels (and smells!!!) like spring in our living room :)

365 Project: The Best of January

When I started my 365 Project and decided to photograph the sky for one year, a part of me thought I wouldn't be able to last more than a few weeks. To do something everyday for a year is quite a commitment, even if it only takes a few seconds of each day.

But here we are, one month down the line, and I am absolutely LOVING it!!! I can't believe how quickly it became a part of my everyday routine and how much I love looking at the ever-changing sky, searching for the perfect way to capture each day. But mostly I love how it forces and enables me - even on the busiest, most uncreative days -  to take the time to notice the wonderful world around me, and to be creative.

Here are my favorite shots of January, the month in which I said goodbye to 2012, went back to work after a few months of unemployment and started this blog :)

Flowers in the Window: Day 1

I've been keeping these Hyacinth bulbs in the windowsill for a while now and I love watching them grow!! :) I made some pictures during the process and thought it would be nice to share. So to kick it of: here's Day 1! Not much action... yet! :)
